LWPro is not just hype, it's a must have for the serius LW user. The
Issue on real world phenomena really helped me to create an car speeding
down a deserted highway. The car was just a test of metaform but it came
out so good I had to do something with It. The article on lightbeems was
great. I already had an idea of how to build lightbeems, from using fog
objects in imagine, but the article suggests subtle touches that make the
illusion really believeable. Use a fractal noise texture to simulate
particulate matter in the air, turn on world coordinates to make the
lightbeem travel through the particles. Paint a map for the light
falloff, it's not linear so the texture parameter falloff just won't cut it.
It's rendering now! I'll up load the switcher anim to the LW FTP site
when it's finished.
Hats off to John Gross and all the LWPro staff. They produce an
excellent product!.
